Ancient Technology

I'm currently studying archeology at the University of Manchester. I studied environmental and experimental before that. My main interest is in Mesolithic studies. 

I am a PhD Candidate in Prehistoric Archaeology and Osteoarchaeology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece.

I am a PhD Student at the University of Western Australia investigating 50,000 years of Aboriginal marine resource use in the northern Carnarvon Bioregion, Western Australia. I have long been interested in experimental archaeology.

I graduated in Cultural Heritage Management with a thesis on Anthropology in 2011. I published two articles with EXARC (2013-2 and 2018-3) and a book published in 2018 ("I guerrieri Piceni").

Mike became involved with experimental archaeology while undertaking a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology at Washington College in 2013. Part of this coursework included primitive skills training in basic knapping, hide tanning, and prehistoric clothing manufacture.

In 2002, I decided to actively pursue my historical interest and incorporate my skills in physics, electronics and engineering.

I am working on the open-air museum project in Gabala. Since 2010 working in Gabala Archaeological Centre as a managing archaeological tours, organising summer schools for the pupils.

Peter Groom is an Environmentalist (MSc) and Experimental Archaeologist (MA), he has a PhD in Mesolithic archaeology, is a freelance experimental archaeologist and primitive skills / bushcraft practitioner, and is a director of the Mesolithic Resource Group (
