I started bronze casting in 2015 and continued to build my own equipment for public demonstrations on Bronze Age metalworking.
In 2002, I decided to actively pursue my historical interest and incorporate my skills in physics, electronics and engineering.
I started my activities in 2006 when I have made first contact with the Duncarron project in Scotland, since then, I have studied the production systems from the Bronze Age up to the 11th century but my specialty is the Iron Age.
Involved in experimental archaeology for the past 12 years, specialising in investigating and demonstrating prehistoric metallurgy of the Bronze and Iron Age. I regularly give public demonstrations and teach courses in smelting (copper, tin, iron, lead) and casting (copper, bronze).
I am an independent researcher with a specialisation in non-ferrous metals with a practical background in jewellery making and metalsmithing. My research ranges from smelting ores and exploring early technology, to replicating metalworking techniques from the Bronze Age through Medieval Period.
Starting in 1996 with Roman crafts living history demonstrations, I co-founded the project "Römischer Vicus", presenting several demonstrations of a dozen craftspeople on the website www.roemischer-vicus.de and attending Roman living history events in Germany
Lic. Phil. Walter Fasnacht is a well known bronze caster, among others active at Cyprus.
