Craft Sciences refer to a unity of research conducted in different craft subjects. The biennial International Conference for the Craft Sciences aims to expose the breadth of topics, source material, methods, perspectives and results that reside in this field. The conference provides a platform for communicating craft research beyond the borders of faculties and disciplines. Through the collaboration with the University of Gothenburg’s Centre for Digital Humanities and Media Technology, the Conference will provide novel and supported ways to better elicit the performative and material nature of craft research. The traditional call for research papers is amplified with calls for filmed articles, interactive applications, demonstrations and exhibitions. The submitted research contributions will go through a double blind peer review process and there will be a digital publication of the conference proceedings.
We invite research contributions from any discipline or field that includes craft practice and that particularly aim (but not limited to) discuss the following six themes:
- Multimodal communication of craft research
- Craft and society
- Craft in interdisciplinary research
- Craft pedagogy for higher education
- Crafting theory for practice
- Craft, heritage and conservation
Original research contributions may be presented as Full research contribution or In Situ research contribution.
Full research contribution includes double blind peer review and publication on the conference website:
Call for multi-media research contributions
Call for research films
Call for traditional research papers
In Situ research contribution includes peer review of long abstract and on-site video documentation that is published on the conference website:
Call for demonstrations and performances
Call for workshops
Call for exhibition
We hope to see you in Mariestad, in September 2020,
