Our Centre is dedicated to both research in the field of archaeology and associated sciences and to conducting public awareness and community education programs on archaeology.
We established a small children's museum in 1999, which is currently under renovation. We also run workshops for post-graduate and doctoral students and young faculty on topics related to prehistory, lithic knapping, etc.
1. Projects on prehistoric archaeology, including excavations at the site of Attirampakkam (see Pappu et al. 2011. Science) and landscape archaeology along the southeast coast of India.
2. Applications of satellite remote sensing and GIS for prehistoric research and Culture Resource Management.
3. Experimental studies in lithic knapping.
4. Community education programs for children, teachers and local stakeholders.
