The spectacular cliffs of rocks which form the elevation of Birow mountain hide an outstanding reconstruction of the fortified castle which was once standing here.
Archaeological research on the site has shown the earliest settlement in the mount dates back to the neolithic period or the first bronze age. The continuity goes on until the VIII century with a Slavic settlement when the site was fortified with lime mortar walls and a stronghold in wood.
The castle was then destroyed in the XIV century AD.
The reconstructed stronghold represents the castle pertaining to the X-XIII centuries AD, and has a gatetower with the palisade, a watchtower and an observation tower in wood.
Interiors have been furnished accordingly and it is possible to see also in the open air typical medieval features.
