I did my PhD at the University of Bradford researching fuel use in the past. My work developed a method of identification for archaeological fuel using comparative analyses to modern analogues. My research is focused on the Orkney Islands, Scotland.

My historical interpretation activities give people space and time to step outside their everyday lives and experience serious learning in a fun and informal atmosphere. I work professionally with Museums, Schools and with volunteer re-enactment groups.
I am a PhD student at University Paul Valéry - Montpellier III (France). My current research focus on spatial organization of western Mediterranean (South France and Italy) Late Neolithic / Early Bronze Age settlements from a geoarchaeological point of view (in particular soil micromorphology).
Since 1980 I have taught the conservation of objects (stone, glass, metal, fibers, leather, ceramics etc.) at the Department of Art Conservation at Buffalo State College (State University of New York). I have been a craftsman essentially all my life.
My primary research interests are combustion features, pyrotechnology, and the use of fire among hunter-gatherers. I am currently working on how heat affects ostrich eggshell and quartzite and am using both actualistic and laboratory experiments.
