I became interested in EXARC activities during my MA with the University of Bradford, where I started looking more into the textile and cremation industries, particularly the role that smell performs within settlement archaeology.
Participants learn about the history and theoretical background of the weight loom. In practice, it is about the individual steps up to the weaving. Two participants work on a loom.
The Viking group Hànars fraendir fills the old settlement on the Schlei with new life. It shows impressively how much everyday life in Haithabu in the Viking Age differs from today and gives insights into handicrafts and house work in the early Middle Ages.

The #EAC12 Conference will be an “around the world in 80 experiments” taking place in March 2021 (exact dates to be confirmed). It will start in New Zealand & Australia, turning towards Asia, Africa, Europe, North and South America as the time proceeds. #EAC12 has online lectures as well as presentations by local hotspots in different time zones.
