The Mining Museum of the Basque Country, is pleased to announce a new edition of a practical show of experimental archeology and archaeometallurgy of ancient and medieval iron, that it was so important in these historical ages in Biscay. This kind of bloomery smelt will show a new experiment that will give us new information for our research   in following investigations, which one has been taking place for the last 16 years. The aim of this event is to provide a general idea to the public of how it was the metal done in the ancient years, using the Biscay furnace type, famous for its iron production in the Basque Country. We will reconstruct the different phases of the main work of those ironworkers. This was their main occupation, which secret was lost during the years, and now the experimental archeology is trying to recover it.  This  will take place in Mining Museum of the Basque Country (Bizkaia, Spain) in the iron festival which will take place in October .Everybody is more than welcome to come to visit and join us.
