Come celebrate the Summer Solstice with the Crannog Community on the 21st June 2021.

A live event; full of music, songs, stories and wonder, this is a must for any solstice calendar.

Meet Iona Fyfe, Michael Biggins, Munro Gauld, Neil Baillie, Miriam Wolanski and the whole team from Wolanski Pole and Aerial Fitness as they perform under the sun and swallows, and around the Midsummer fires, at one of our most anticipated events of the year.

In order to fit with government regulations, we will be running two sessions of the event, one at 6pm until 7.45pm, and the second at 8:15pm until 10pm, with smaller groups in the Crannog. We recommend booking in advance as tickets sell out fast!

Iona Fyfe with Michael Biggins
Aberdeenshire singer, Iona Fyfe, has become one of Scotland’s finest young folk singers, rooted deeply in the singing traditions of the North East of Scotland. The youngest ever winner of Scots Singer of the Year at the MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards 2018, Iona has been described as “one of the best Scotland has to offer.” (Global-Music.de).

Michael Biggins is the current winner of the coveted BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year. He performs with folk band Trip, who are set to release their debut album. He has won the Battle of the Folk Bands with his band, The Canny Band and has worked with some of Scotland’s finest musicians. Michael studied classical music at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

Both Iona and Michael were finalists in the BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year 2021 award, with Michael Biggins being awarded the title!

Munro Gauld and Neil Baillie
Traditional musicians exploring local Perthshire tunes and folklore, performing inside the Crannog around the fire - flautist and guitar.

Miriam Wolanski and Wolanski Pole and Aerial Fitness
Join Miriam and team to celebrate as the summer reaches its zenith. The fertile earth is bursting with warmth and joy and the spirits are gathering to move together in a frenzied dance. We feel the sun's intensity but are aware of a stoic shadow - the very whisper of the darkening of nights that must follow summer. We must keep the fires burning and each other warm through tales of old and new. Combining all of earths elements Wolanski's Circus will use music, acrobatic dance and aerial performances to honour and share all of midsummer's delights with you and acknowledge the inevitable balance of turning inwards with the seasons.
