The Slavic Days are not just any medieval market: every July warriors, traders and artisans from all over Europe meet and resurrect the 9th and 10th centuries in all their facets in the Oldenburg Wall Museum.

Blacksmiths make elaborate knives from glowing iron, yarns and cloths are dyed in plant stains, silversmiths and glass bead makers make valuable jewelry. The market stalls offer a wide variety of goods that are not only suitable for enthusiasts. For example, hand-forged tools are just as functional today as they were in the Middle Ages, cloths dyed with natural colors also give today's items of clothing a unique touch, and medieval jewelry often looks remarkably very modern.

The highlights of the program, in addition to the demonstration of clothing and armament of the Vikings and Slavs, are the great battles. Stand in the middle of it, not just when warriors try to conquer Starigard Castle. Fighters land in ships and storm the wall gate, while the desperate defenders man the castle wall and the attackers try to strike back with spears and stones.

There is a wide range of activities for young and old alike: try your hand at archery or listen to medieval music by the band “Die Lautlosen”. Children can explore the medieval settlements with a rally or take part in Slavic games. Guests are also invited to try out various medieval handicrafts themselves. And of course, the physical well-being is also taken care of with a large selection of sweet and savory items.

Come to the Wallmuseum and discover the Slavs in yourself!
