As one of the first “offspring” of the 1960s Lejre approach, Vingsted Historiske Værksted was set up near Bredsten. It still plays an important role in the Danish network of archaeological education centres (Historiske Værksteder or historical workshops).

The area contains an Iron Age farmstead with several houses and cattle, fields farmed with period methods, grazing livestock and a place where rituals and sacrifices were celebrated. School groups come from far to spend time in the Iron Age area, adult courses in for example blacksmithing take place in the nearby Vingsted Mølle, the old mill with even space for accommodating those who stay longer than just the odd day.
