Luke Winter is the director of Historic Concepts Ltd. An experimental archaeologist by training, and the former manager of the Ancient Technology Centre in Dorset, he has a unique skill set that enables him to take complex evidence and convert it into “living projects” that bring together authentic and traditional skills, archaeologically proven processes, ancient structural design, and long-term experiments.
These authentic construction projects engage the wider community with integral “hands on” education programmes that introduce and explain archaeological detail and concepts to schools and visitors alike. The aim of these projects is to create a unique, well researched and authentically produced project that also develops and trains a sustainable volunteer cohort. Luke specialises in medium and large scale projects that aim to improve the appearance and visitor experience of Heritage sites or landscapes, while developing education programmes that engage the local community.
