I am interested mainly in taphonomic and lithic experiments. I teach courses on experimental archaeology (MA-option), and on organic materials (3rd year option undergraduate), which involves replicating techniques at the Institute of Archaeology London.
My primary research interests are combustion features, pyrotechnology, and the use of fire among hunter-gatherers. I am currently working on how heat affects ostrich eggshell and quartzite and am using both actualistic and laboratory experiments.
Ms drs Annemarie Pothaar (1977) Master of Arts in Heritage Education & Interpretation.
My interest is the craft and technology of making malt and beer brewing over the ages. Wine is fermented from grapes. Mead is fermented from honey. Both grapes and honey contain natural sugars.
My PhD in Archaeology, at Edinburgh University, examined the objects interpreted as clay drums, from the Trichterbecher culture (TRB - 3300-2700 BC). During this time, I constructed models of the different drum styles in order to investigate the techniques of attaching a drum-skin.
Bodil Petersson, archaeologist, PhD with special focus on archaeological open-air museums and experimental archaeology (book 2003) and editor together with Lars Erik Narmo of a research anthology on the theme of experimental archaeology (2011).
Starting in 1996 with Roman crafts living history demonstrations, I co-founded the project "Römischer Vicus", presenting several demonstrations of a dozen craftspeople on the website www.roemischer-vicus.de and attending Roman living history events in Germany
I have been involved with re-enactment/interpretation for over 25 years, and heavily involved with experimental work specifically in the areas of Viking Era Iron Smelting, and Bead Production for over a decade.
Thomas has a background combining chemical engineering and landscape archaeology. With a longstanding interest in heritage education, public and community archaeology he teaches on the interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences (BASc) programme at University College London.
