A week with presentations and hands-on activities on living archaeology in the Stone Age Village. In cooperation with the archaeological institute of the University of Hamburg.
During this craft weekend you will discover special historical crafts from earlier times, from prehistoric times to the Middle Ages. For example, we light a field oven and a biscuit oven to bake pots, we spin and weave clothing and we forge the most beautiful products. In addition, you can have something cast in tin by our craftswoman. All kinds of crafts that are in danger of being lost.
Guided tours of stilt houses built as in prehistoric times, guided hikes and an educational workshop dedicated to animal tracks.
The ancient inhabitants of the stilts return for a day to tell you about their times and we will have a (bio) beekeeper with us!
Come along and learn about Ancient Paints and earth pigments. During this workshop we will learn how people made paints from coloured minerals and brushes from foraged natural materials throughout prehistory and history, mainly between the stone age and the Vikings.
How do you actually do that, weave such a beautiful basket? Do you weave with double or single branches? And what about the bottom?
You will learn all this during this fascinating workshop, led by basket weaving expert Eva IJsveld!
