I graduated from the University of York in 1994 with a BA in Archaeology and started making replica Viking Age artefacts in 1999, while working at the Jorvik Viking Centre. Specialising in copper alloys and bone and antler - particularly antler combs, of which I made over 100 over the subsequent few years, for Museum displays, handling collections and re-enactors. In 2002 my wife, Catriona, and I founded our company, Asgard, to sell reproduction Viking Age objects, and in 2004, we began to expand our range of pewter jewellery based on Viking age designs. Currently based in Dunoon, Argyll, Scotland, this now forms a large part of our business. Wherever possible I use Viking age tools and methods to make the master designs for our products. I still make and sell bone and antler and copper alloy objects, as commissions and for general sale, and have expanded my range of interests and skills in to ferrous metalworking and a range of period silver working techniques. I am committed to experimentation and research into Viking age production techniques, in order to produce the best replicas possible, and continue to expand my range of skills, and period tools. I also particularly enjoy demonstrating these techniques whenever possible, which I do with my own touring Viking Age crafts workshop display.
