My primary research interests are combustion features, pyrotechnology, and the use of fire among hunter-gatherers. I am currently working on how heat affects ostrich eggshell and quartzite and am using both actualistic and laboratory experiments. My PhD project at the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa, focused on site formation processes and fire as a technology and I continued working on fire-related behaviour, human culinary technology and site formation processes at the Middle Stone Age site Klasies River, South Africa. I am currently based at the University of Bergen, Norway. Check my personal webpage for more information and contact information.
