That rabbits do not lay eggs is known to most. But who knows when and how the human came to the chicken? On Easter Monday, the story of chicken farming is told in individual stages. First, the NAMU Bielefeld clarifies about the fossil relatives of the chickens - the dinosaurs. The Bronze Age is about the first tame poultry in Europe, the guinea fowl.

On 22 April the two buildings located at the foot of the Monte Bibele massif, generally known as Monte Bibele Services Center, are officially inaugurated.
After decades of hard work, not just scientific research, we are proud to finally inaugurate the structures that will serve as a focal point for welcoming visitors to the Monte Bibele Area of Archaeological and Natural Interest. 

What happens to finds after the excavation? On the occasion of the Archaeology Days in Europe, the Office for the Preservation of Monuments and Archaeology gives an insight into its everyday life. On the archeology course "Excavated" one can even understand the methods with which archaeology decodes the traces of the past.

In this workshop, you will learn the skills of harvesting, storing and weaving with willow bark. Terry studied in Finland with a willow bark weaver as well as a birch bark weaver and will pass on these skills on this workshop. Bark baskets may be folded, knotted and woven and we will explore these techniques on the day.

Uniquely in northern Germany, you can experience an excursion in a prehistoric watercraft, the dugout. The certified nature and landscape guide Andrea Menzel takes you into the colourful diversity of the floodplain landscape. Equipped with binoculars, life vests and paddles, the excursion participants glide silently over Hitzacker Lake.
