Call for Papers: 10th experimental archaeology conference

We are pleased to announce the Call for Papers for the 10th Experimental Archaeology Conference (#EAC10), which will be held in Leiden, Netherlands, on the 20th-22nd April 2017.

The International Experimental Archaeology Conference encourages the exchange and sharing of new work in experimental archaeology. It facilitates the discussion of recent developments within the ever-growing community of experimental archaeologists, archaeologists, primitive technologists, interpreters, open-air museum affiliates, and interpreters.
Experimental archaeology encompasses controlled scientific experiments as well as a vast array of other closely related activities. Although an archaeological experiment must be hypothesis driven, the insight gained through activities that are not as scientifically structured including experiential archaeology and primitive technology can be equally informative. The true value is realized when the results of research are related back to the archaeological record, enabling the creation of a cohesive and insighful interpretation which would be impossible to obtain solely from original artefacts.
We invite papers presenting the results from all aspects of the aforementioned research categories, with particular focus on:
# The scope of experimental archaeology, distinguishing between full experiments, pilot experiments, pre-experiments, experiential activities, public demonstrations and hobby projects.
# Projects which strongly relate to the archaeological record (original sources and end results)
# Improving ways of promoting experimental archaeology in academic research.
# How to communicate experiments to the academic community and to the public.

Papers are 18 minutes, posters are presented in 5 minutes and all should be in English. We offer the possibility of publishing in the proceedings in the EXARC Journal.

Please send an abstract (max 100 words), including details of the authors who will be present at the conference and whether you would like a poster or a paper to: r.p.paardekooper@exarc.net.
The deadline for submission is the 1st September 2016

In order to maintain the low cost and high accessibility of this conference (typically less than £70), poster and paper presenters will need to register and pay the appropriate fees.
