The University of Exeter has the world’s oldest Master’s Program in experimental archaeology. Early December 2017, Professor Linda Hurcombe, the initiator of this program, held her inaugural professorial lecture titled: Experimental Archaeology: a multi-faceted tool. Professor Hurcombe gave an overview from how she started in archaeology, up until present, arguing that experimental archaeology is a powerful research method, an effective educational tool at all levels, and an excellent medium for public outreach.

EXARC was present to congratulate Professor Hurcombe with her achievements. Following on that Roeland Paardekooper discussed with the MA students in experimental archaeology about archaeological open-air museums and how to use the EXARC network. EXARC member Morten Kutschera from Norway shared several prehistoric techniques with them.
